    Walk the walk…

    walk-england-brand-business-cards

If you are a not-for-profit social enterprise charged with both encouraging individuals to walk and convincing corporate/community-based organisations of its social merits then it is imperative you ‘walk the walk’ as well as ‘talk the talk’.

We helped Walk England do just that by helping them find their voice with their three target audiences – consumer (walkers), corporate and community (local authorities, central government, schools, health professionals and environmental organisations). First, we re-articulated their offer in a straight-forward manner. Then we created a brand platform and a brand visual identity sophisticated enough to be able to resonate coherently with all their stakeholders.

We will be publishing a full case study shortly but in the meantime here are the business cards (above). They demonstrate the logo, some of the colour palette and typography in use. The reverse of the cards accommodate personal experiences of the staff members favourite ‘round-trip’ walk.

We are pleased to announce two more clients

One is a direct mail campaign for the charity Diabetes UK. The other is for the Islington Children and Adolescent Mental Health Service which is part of the Whittington NHS Trust in London. We look forward to working with them throughout January and will hopefully be able to post some new work in February or March. Watch this space.

    Re-brand and e-commerce website for Oswell’s

We are busy rebranding Oswell’s, the home and gift store in the North East, and creating a new e-commerce website. We should be able to show off the brand and the website some time in February – including their letterpress business cards. Very exciting!

We are pleased to announce we have CPFT as a new client. This is very exciting news. We have already started working with them with their electronic communications and we are looking forward to working with them more over the coming months.

Brand and design industry tip of the week #2

When embarking on a branding or rebranding exercise it is important to have your Brand Platform considered and articulated. Not only does this become a robust briefing tool for all sorts of business (financial and strategic) and communications purposes (web sites, brochures, advertising) it also becomes a good checklist to gauge whether the publications you are producing are coherent and on-brand. You may have a Brand Platform already from a previous exercise that is still valid or one that just requires a tweak here and there – or perhaps you haven’t got one articulated at all.

If you find that you are without or have a Brand Platform that requires re-working then your brand design agency should advise you on a pathway as part of your branding exercise. Alongside research, a usual way forward is to hold workshops and conduct interviews with staff and customers. Once exhausted, the agency will distil the information gathered into a presentable format. If you are finding that a graphic design agency is offering a new brand or re-brand without mentioning a Brand Platform it is possible you will be repeating the exercise sooner rather than later.

A Brand Platform consists of the following elements:

Brand Vision The brand’s guiding insight into its world.

Brand Mission How the brand will act on its insight.

Brand Values The code by which the brand lives. The brand values act as a benchmark to measure behaviours and performance.

Brand Personality The brand described as human personality traits.
